During 2024, the Tourism Secretariat of the Government of Oaxaca implemented promotion and attraction strategies for national, foreign and local visitors, which increased hotel occupancy figures by 44%, which meant an estimated 6 million tourists who generated an economic spillover of just over 22 billion pesos in their tourist destinations.

The Secretary of Tourism, Saymi Pineda Velasco, stated that the objective is for the smokeless industry to be a sustainable activity and its benefits to be tangible in the lives of the communities in which the sector is developed.

She also highlighted that three new air routes were opened: Oaxaca-Tijuana; Huatulco-AIFA and Ixtepec-AIFA, which expanded connectivity and generated more opportunities for tourism and regional economic development.

“We are sure that tourism activity is on the right path under the government of the Oaxacan Spring and that, thanks to the direction set by Salomón Jara Cruz, we will continue on the path of world-class tourism that will bring prosperity to all Oaxacans,” he said.

On November 15, the Second Government Report was delivered by Salomón Jara Cruz, who heads the current administration of Oaxaca.

“Since the beginning of this administration we have governed with and for the people, aware that the best solutions are born from dialogue, inclusion and citizen participation. This government does not conceive accountability as a simple protocol act, but as a democratic obligation that honors the trust that the citizens have placed in it,” explained Jara Cruz, before representatives of the Three Powers, leaders, legislators and special guests who met in Juchitán to support the leader in his political message.

Tourism Secretariat highlights achievements in this important area
