Elements of the State of Mexico Security Secretariat confiscated 27 exotic animals after carrying out a search of a supposed shelter in San Pedro Cholula, in the municipality of Ocoyoacac.
The property is allegedly owned by Francisco Torres Palacios, nicknamed ‘El Tigre’, supposed leader of the criminal organization nicknamed ‘Los Palacios’, which is aligned with the Sinaloa Cartel.
The source of information reports that during the police action 40 individuals were arrested, of them, 32 are men and eight women, who were probably in charge of feeding the animals, among which are eight lions, two white tigers, three wolves, a baby monkey, two mandrills, a buffalo, four raccoons, two meerkats, a dog of the xoloescuincle breed, which is native to Mexico, a coyote, two adult jaguars (panthers) and a stuffed baby jaguar.
During the search, 91,500 pesos, five checkbooks, two shotguns, one homemade shotgun, 356 live cartridges of caliber 5.56, 7.62, twelve .22 and 20 millimeter cartridges were found and confiscated.

Also, the Public Ministry found nine 12 millimeter caliber fired cartridges, riot gear with the legend “Police”, two tactical vests, a pixelated vest, a ballistic plate, a computer and a monitor.
It is indicated that, once the representatives of the Law arrived at the site, they had to shoot in a deterrent manner without reporting any injuries.
The exotic animal shelter would be around two hectares.
A source consulted indicated that the supposed animal shelter is located next to a pallet factory in San Pedro Cholula, while the animals, such as tigers and lions, for example, looked well fed, since the place allegedly received private money. In this sense, the municipal president in office, Samuel Verdeja Ruiz, knew that this place operated and never reported it.
It is unknown what will happen to the rescued exotic animals.
