The fact that authorities at all three levels of government are beginning to visualize the importance of using clean energy is an important step for the environmental future of Baja California, said the president of the civil and non-profit association, Hagamos Conciencia, Licenciada Marisol Montaño, when celebrating the EnerBaja 2024 forum, which is based in the municipality of Playas de Rosarito.

The pro-environmental activist shared that as a civil organization, since its inception, they have proposed to various public administrations the use of renewable energy, since Baja California is an entity that has an advantage in the matter thanks to its geographic area.

“The extensive Laguna Salada, La Rumorosa, other areas of Tecate are some of the examples of spaces that can be used to use clean energy without having to alter the environment with the opinion and contribution of experts in the issues related to it,” she said.

Ms. Marisol Montaño celebrated the progress being made in the generation of clean energy to provide a safe and economic supply for the State. For example, the city of Mexicali is about to receive an energy benefit with the advanced project of the photovoltaic plant that connects Puerto Peñasco, Sonora, with Baja California, this being the largest solar panel field in Latin America.

“But it is not only this, wind energy can also be better used, and the approval for homes or businesses to have private solar panels without the need for so much bureaucracy, this would help us to continue advancing towards an effective environmental future,” shared the president of Hagamos Conciencia.

Finally, Marisol Montaño recalled that as activists they have been involved in multiple environmental projects, through the association that she presides, they work hand in hand with society, private organizations and authorities, which is why they seek the development of shared proposals that benefit Baja California in relation to the environment.
