The Campeche XXI International Convention and Exhibition Center has received the prestigious Global Competitiveness Certificate from PCO Meetings Mexico, positioning Campeche as a leading venue for meeting tourism both nationally and internationally. This certification is held by only five venues in the entire country.
Recognition and Impact
The security and hospitality of Campeche have been recognized with this certification, which will enhance the state’s reputation as a prime location for hosting meetings and events. PCO Meetings Mexico, the Mexican Association of Professionals in the meeting industry, comprises the 17 most important companies in this sector, responsible for organizing national congresses, conventions, and expos.
Certification Process
Luis Emilio Ortiz de la Peña, general director of the State Promoter of Artistic, Cultural, and Convention Events, explained that the convention center underwent a rigorous process involving several visits and a checklist of over a thousand points to achieve this certification. This endorsement assures event organizers of the facilities, support, and services available in Campeche, aiding in the promotion and recommendation of the destination.
The certificate was awarded at the Incentives, Business Travel & Meetings (IBTM) event, the most significant in the meeting tourism industry. Since then, the convention center has received numerous inquiries, quotes, and visits from agencies interested in touring the facilities.
In 2025, Campeche is expected to break records for hosting events and generate significant economic impact. Ortiz de la Peña emphasized that Campeche is continually positioning itself for higher quality, larger, and more impactful events, benefiting the entire community.
Expansion Plans
Ortiz de la Peña also mentioned that efforts are underway to obtain the same certification for the Ciudad del Carmen Convention Center. This would further boost event activities on the island, positioning it similarly to the capital.
With this new certification, Campeche is set to become a top choice for meeting tourism, attracting more events and visitors to the region.
