Dismissed police officers intend to “settle down” in municipalities in Jalisco and Michoacán

A week ago, operational and administrative personnel of the Attorney General’s Office and the Jalisco State Police were notified that they would be terminated, which caused great annoyance.

Federal intelligence areas detected that a significant number of these elements are mobilized by the New Generation Cartel to be “accommodated” in the municipal corporations of that entity and even Michoacán, where that organization controls criminal activities.

Operation Swarm: When is it Jalisco’s turn?

On November 16, the Jalisco Attorney General’s Office sent document FE.17.04/6022/2024, in which it requested an official that 291 employees (operational and administrative) report to the Human Resources Directorate on the 19th, 20th and 21st of this same month. The staff, he told some media outlets, was required to submit their resignation.

A similar case was that of (allegedly) 3,500 State Police officers and administrative personnel, mainly trusted or hired as temporary workers.

The Social Communication area of the Jalisco Public Security Secretariat explained that they do not have the exact number of workers who were terminated or whose contracts were not continued.

Some of the state police officers claim that there are more than 4,500 police officers and administrative workers who were notified that they will be terminated.

Several leaders and representatives of the officers began to mobilize in some municipalities of the state of Jalisco and Michoacán, which triggered an alert in the federal intelligence areas, which are following the trail of some of them for their alleged relationship with the New Generation Cartel.

The reports reveal that these are mainly middle-ranking officers who were commissioned —along with their operational group— in municipalities where this criminal organization controls in the state of Jalisco, such as Nochistlán, Zapopan, Guadalajara, Puerto Vallarta, Ocotlán, Jilotlán, La Loma, Santa María del Oro, Lagos de Moreno, San Juan de Los Lagos and Ciudad Guzmán, among others.

The information in the possession of the authorities indicates that these officers met —on the instructions of the Guerrero Covarrubias brothers, leaders of the CJNG with roots in Ocotlán— with directors of Public Security of Jalisco to incorporate the elements.

It warns that they are also seeking to do the same in municipalities of Michoacán, where the CJNG has a presence.

Among the Michoacan municipalities detected by intelligence areas are: Morelia, Tanhuato, Ecuandureo, Uruapan, Aguililla, Coalcomán, Zitácuaro, Ciudad Hidalgo, Puruándiro, Cuitzeo and Huandacareo.

In addition to other municipalities located in the already known “Corridor of Death”: Jiquilpan, Sahuayo, Marcos Castellanos, Villamar, Venustiano Carranza, Briseñas, Pajacuarán, Vista Hermosa, Chavinda, Tangamandapio, Jacona and Zamora.

On this subject, high-level officials of the government of Michoacán stated that they will implement intelligence actions and operations to prevent this migratory phenomenon of police officers with a history of alleged collusion with criminal groups from reaching this entity.
