In six years, national and foreign tourists left 80 thousand million pesos in Veracruz

The head of the Ministry of Tourism, Iván Martínez Olvera, assured that in this six-year period an economic spill of 80 thousand 400 million pesos and the registration of 48 million 900 thousand national and foreign visitors were achieved.

When appearing before the deputies of the Permanent Commission of Tourism of the State Congress, he highlighted that this 2024 economic spill of more than 27 thousand million pesos and more than 12 million visitors arrived.

Festivals in Veracruz with great attendance

The official indicated that this year the anchor tourist events were: Cumbre Tajín that brought together 988 thousand visitors, Salsa Fest with 551 thousand visitors and the Cempoala Festival with more than 63 thousand visitors.

In addition, the following were held: the Cumbre Olmeca with 15 thousand visitors and the Xalapa and its Culture festival that had an attendance of 99 thousand people.

In terms of sports tourism, 65 events were held in 24 municipalities of the entity; In addition to the Pan-American Race, which covered 14 municipalities and generated an economic impact of 20 million pesos.

In the area of ​​nature tourism, this year the Cofre de Perote National Park received more than 70 thousand visitors and achieved an economic impact of 167 million pesos.

He said that popular art is one of the areas that have had development, for which 489 thousand 500 pesos have been provided in economic incentives and 20 national recognitions were achieved in the areas of textiles, pottery, ceramics and wood.

At the World Trade Center, 103 events were held, bringing together more than 300 thousand people and generating 24 thousand 514 indirect jobs. The economic impact of these activities was 800 million pesos.

On the other hand, the official indicated that more than 700 commercial flights were made on a monthly basis, obtaining an influx of passengers at the Veracruz airport during the period from January to October of more than 1 million 400 thousand people.

He highlighted that between 2018 and 2024 the tourist brand Mi Veracruz achieved 7 billion advertising impacts with an investment of 300 million pesos, so it currently has a presence in the 32 states of the country and internationally in the United States, Spain, Japan, Germany, Canada and China.

Magical Towns

The official recalled that the 6th edition of the National Tianguis of Magical Towns was held in Veracruz, one of the most important events in tourism in Latin America.

At this event, 177 Magical Towns, 34 Magical Neighborhoods, 4,128 exhibitors, 215 buyers, 65,100 attendees and 14,946 business appointments and services were registered.

This event resulted in a hotel occupancy in the Veracruz-Boca del Río area of ​​9,664 rooms per night and 121 million pesos in economic benefits.

In terms of Magical Towns and Municipalities with a Tourist Vocation, the destinations of Zozocolco, Coatepec, Xico, Papantla, Coscomatepec, Naolinco, Orizaba and Córdoba were promoted nationally and internationally in 57 events, highlighting the 3rd edition of the International Tianguis of Magical Towns in San Antonio, Texas and the implementation of the Magical Color Routes program.

Veracruz, a space for filming

Martínez Olvera highlighted that film activity was essential for the growth of tourism in the state, since it generates an important economic spillover that immediately benefits the lodging, food and tourism service providers sector, positioning the natural, historical and cultural beauties of Veracruz.

Through the Film Commission in 2024, the necessary conditions were created and the requirements were facilitated to serve 32 production houses, reflected in 52 audiovisual productions, causing an economic spillover of more than 35 million pesos.

Some of the outstanding productions are: from Netflix: “Las Muertas” series and “Bandidos 2” series and from Televisa “El precio de amarte”.

Trusts

The official said that as part of the Public Trust for the Administration of the Tax for the Provision of Services and Lodging, 48 projects were developed in seven tourist regions of the state.

As part of the promotion and marketing strategies, the company participated in national and international visibility events through the Lodging Tax Trust. In this process, the Representatives of the Tourist Service Providers of the 7 Tourist Regions of the State are directly involved, identifying the promotion needs and validating the campaigns issued by the Trust.

In addition, the company participated in the following international events: International Tourism Fair and Road Show of Veracruz, in Texas and Chicago. The resources obtained from the provision of lodging services were allocated to 48 projects, with an amount close to 129 million pesos and a total of 2,700 million advertising impacts.
