Governor Maru Campos inaugurated the facilities of the Centinela Tower in Ciudad Juárez, a strategic project that consolidates the security model implemented by the State Government, based on technology, intelligence, and coordination among institutions.
Accompanied by the Secretary of Public Security of the State of Chihuahua (SSPE), Gilberto Loya, she led the protocol ceremony and toured the facilities, where she visited the operational areas, command centers, and specialized spaces that make up this infrastructure.
In her remarks, Maru Campos emphasized that the Tower represents more than a physical structure, as it is the result of five years of work to transform security capabilities in Chihuahua.
She said that its construction also represents a message of dignity for the people of Juárez, demonstrating that Juárez is a city of great importance for Chihuahua and for Mexico.
“They are important for the simple and straightforward fact that they are human beings, and because they possess the dignity that we all deserve,” she said.
The governor recognized the work of Loya Chávez, as well as that of the personnel participating in the security strategy and their families.
Strengthening security
She reported that during the current year, there has been a 24 percent reduction in the daily average of homicides, representing the most significant decrease in the last eight years.
“Today we are not inaugurating a tower; we are celebrating the consolidation of a project that will leave a legacy for all of Chihuahua,” she added.
For his part, Gilberto Loya highlighted that Chihuahua currently has greater capabilities to address security challenges, thanks to a strategy that integrates technology, information, intelligence, and police operations.
The building has 2,985 PTZ cameras, 4,717 fixed cameras, 1,791 license plate readers, 102 arches, 3,065 monitoring points, 40 Mobile Monitoring Centers, and anti-drone systems.
The official said that these tools make it possible to transform information into intelligence to strengthen prevention, investigation, and police response.
He considered that the building, which is more than 115 meters tall, aims to make Chihuahua a national and international benchmark for how to respond to the demands of a state calling for better strategies to combat crime.
“Today Chihuahua has greater capabilities to face security challenges,” he emphasized.
Following the inauguration ceremony, the state governor toured the different levels of the building, where she learned firsthand about the work carried out in each of the spaces.

During the tour, the governor presided over an Honor Guard at the memorial dedicated to personnel who died in the line of duty. She was also presented with details about the mural and the SSPE emblem by their respective creators, Arturo Damasco and Rodrigo González.
Those accompanying her at the head table included Francisco Sáenz, acting head of the State Attorney General’s Office; Judge Marcela Herrera Sandoval, president of the State Superior Court of Justice; and Representative Joceline Vega Vargas, president of the State Congress.
Authorities from the United States Embassy, the U.S. Consulate in Mexico, and the government of Las Cruces, New Mexico, also attended.
