The celebration of the Grito de Independencia will once again bring thousands of people together at the Zócalo in Mexico City, where a free musical program will be offered before the ceremony from National Palace.
Intocable will headline the Mexican celebration, but it will not be the only artist taking the stage. The program will also include mariachi, music performed by Armed Forces groups, and a tribute to José Alfredo Jiménez.
The celebrations will take place on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at Plaza de la Constitución. The musical program is scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m. Mexico City time.
Around 11:00 p.m., there will be a pause to make way for the Grito de Independencia ceremony, led by President Claudia Sheinbaum from the central balcony of National Palace. The traditional fireworks display is then expected to take place.
Admission to the celebration and musical performances will be free.
Which artists will perform at the Grito de Independencia in Mexico City?
Claudia Sheinbaum announced the program prepared for the night of September 15 during her morning press conference. In addition to Intocable, the participation of different representatives of Mexican music was confirmed.
The announced artists and groups are:

- José Alfredo Jiménez Medel
- Legado de Grandeza
- Sergio Maya
- Carmen María
- Galia Siurob
- Mariachi of the National Guard
- Mariachi of the Secretariat of National Defense
- Musical group of the Secretariat of the Navy
Sergio Maya, Carmen María, and Galia Siurob were recognized in the México Canta competition. Maya received the award for Best Performer, Carmen María was selected as Best Composer, and Galia Siurob received the Jury Prize.
José Alfredo Jiménez Medel will also have a special performance. The singer is the grandson of José Alfredo Jiménez, and his participation will be part of the activities held to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of the composer of songs such as El rey, Caminos de Guanajuato, and Si nos dejan.
Intocable will close the September 15 concert
The group, originally from Zapata, Texas, will be the main act of the celebration. Their performance at the Zócalo will feature songs such as ¿Y todo para qué?, Fuerte no soy, Enséñame a olvidar, Sueña, and Aire.
The president explained that Intocable will be responsible for closing the musical program prepared for the commemoration. However, an individual schedule for each of the artists has not yet been published, so attendees are advised to arrive before 8:00 p.m.
