Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo will host the VII National Colloquium of Biologists

From November 27 to 29, Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo will host the VII National Colloquium of Colleges of Biologists in the “Zihua Auditorium” of the City Hall. This event will bring together the general population to discuss issues of national relevance regarding the environment and sustainability.

The president of the College of Biologists of the State of Guerrero, Ricardo Gómez Cardona, reported that the thematic axes will be: territory and climate change, water sustainability, agroecology, biodiversity conservation and management of coasts and oceans. These topics will be addressed in master conferences and thematic tables led by specialists such as Víctor Manuel Toledo Manzur, former secretary of Semarnat, and Pedro Álvarez Icaza Longoria, head of CONANP.

Among the complementary activities, there will be a farmers’ market, the “Tecuani” photography exhibition and contest and the “Juan Luis Alcocer Lemus” medal presentation. Cultural activities and exhibitions related to environmental protection will also be held.

This colloquium, which has previously been held in Nuevo León, Baja California, Guadalajara, the State of Mexico and Zacatecas, seeks to position Guerrero as a strategic point for dialogue and action in favor of the environment.
