Tamaulipas highways blocked five times in just 6 days

In the last week, criminals managed to block roads in San Fernando on five occasions, the most common being the one that connects the city with Laguna Madre, where at least three occurred.

The first of these occurred in the wave of violence that occurred on Tuesday, November 19, when there were shootings and ambushes on two occasions against members of the State Guard.

That day, criminals managed to get a tractor-trailer across the San Fernando Punta de Piedra-Carbonera Norte Bypass at the La Capilla agricultural farm in the Northeast of San Fernando.

That same day, criminal groups blocked the road again, but now the one that connects San Fernando with Matamoros, at the height of the Las Norias ejido, had traffic stopped for at least three hours.

The next day, a new blockade was reported on the Victoria-Matamoros highway, at the height of the San Fernando Bypass.

On Saturday, November 23, criminal groups stopped traffic again, this time on the San Fernando-Carboneras highway, at kilometer 20, on the bridge known as Los Cuates, where the criminals stole a tractor, but also burned it.

This Sunday, the road was blocked again, this time at the Santa Gertudris ejido, this time with a tractor-trailer. The road closures were confirmed by the Tamaulipas Security Spokesperson, since it was the State Police who were in charge of restoring security in the area and opening traffic.

Due to the number of times that the road to Laguna Madre has been closed, fishermen and farmers expressed their concern, since it leaves no traffic in the area that has a lot of primary activity, in addition to the thefts that have been made of planting equipment, with the aim of closing it.

The weekend blockades were not the only thing that the authorities had to deal with, as the police in Reynosa chased a vehicle in the Industrial neighborhood, near the LG Bridge, which ended up crashing, but the people who were traveling in it managed to escape.

On Saturday afternoon, the State Guard, who were doing a surveillance patrol, observed two trucks with civilians inside, which began to shoot at the officers, who began to pursue them.

The police shot down one of the attackers and managed to secure a long weapon.
