Tourism in Tamaulipas leaves 11 billion pesos behind: Sectur

The tourist influx to Tamaulipas destinations in the first 10 months of 2024, leaves an economic spill of more than 11 billion pesos.

Benjamín Hernández Rodríguez, Secretary of Tourism in Tamaulipas, highlighted that the impulse and the tourist promotion that the governor, Américo Villarreal Anaya, is giving is a priority to make Tamaulipas a national and international reference.

The state official said that the five most visited destinations for the natural riches of Tamaulipas, beach, culture, tradition, gastronomy, among others, are: Playa Miramar with more than 2.4 million visitors.

It is followed by Tampico with 1.1 million visitors; the Magical Town of Tula more than 435 thousand; Altamira 300 thousand and the capital of Tamaulipas, Ciudad Victoria with 234 thousand, among other municipalities.

He said that they are also planning other strategies to further boost tourism, where the meeting next week in Mexico City will be a launching point to increase tourism, with greater investment and a greater economic impact to a state that has it all and that day after day is strengthened in infrastructure, services, professionalization and attention to those who do not visit.

“In addition, we are preparing other strategies regarding large congresses and forums, as well as sporting events, which we will soon announce to you, what it is about is to maintain the promotion of Tamaulipas permanently,” he concluded.
