Areas surrounding the city of Campeche were left without electricity after a huge national flag broke off its flagpole and got caught in high-tension cables belonging to the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE).
According to the account of what happened, the cable holding the flag, which measures 50 meters wide and 30 meters high, broke. With the force of the wind in the area, the national flag flew until it became entangled in electric power cables.
Anuar Dáger Granja, Secretary of Civil Protection of Campeche, reported that while proceeding with the protocol and with all this activity carried out by the National Defense, some cables were strained and it was truly a detachment of the giant national flag.
Likewise, it was the personnel of Civil Protection and the Mexican Army who blocked the roads while they carried out maneuvers to remove the flag.
