Those arrested for the massacre at the ‘Los Cantaritos’ bar in Querétaro are brought to trial

A control judge has brought to trial the two people accused of the massacre at the Los Cantaritos bar in Querétaro on November 9, which left 10 people dead and 13 wounded.

The subjects will remain in prison during their trial, for the crimes of qualified homicide and attempted homicide.

In addition, the judge gave the prosecution three months to complete the complementary investigation.

The men have criminal records, as previously reported.

The events took place in a store on Avenida Circunvalación, in the Historic Center of Querétaro. The attackers used long weapons to shoot indiscriminately at those who were in the place. According to official information, the attack was directed at one of the clients.

The attorney general, Antonio de Jesús Hernández, confirmed that the arrests were carried out after twelve searches carried out in the municipalities of Querétaro and Corregidora.

“We have worked continuously and exhaustively, with more than 100 expert interventions and the analysis of 500 hours of video surveillance from more than 50 cameras, both public and private,” explained Hernández.

The evidence collected includes ballistic evidence, interviews and expert analysis that point to the alleged participation of the detainees in the attack. “It is not an isolated piece of evidence or a single accusation; it is a collection of evidence that corroborates their involvement,” added the prosecutor.

The charges that the defendants face could result in sentences of up to 50 years in prison for each of the 10 people killed.

The attorney general also reported that he identified another person involved in the massacre, for whom an arrest warrant has already been obtained. Investigations remain open to determine if there are more participants in the attack or a possible mastermind.
