The municipal government of Solidaridad announced an investment of 27 million pesos for the remodeling of three key points in Playa del Carmen: The Fundadores park, the bicycle path on 10th Avenue in the tourist area and the Mercado del Centro. These renovations seek to improve the urban and tourist infrastructure, with the goal of offering renewed experience to both tourists and residents.
Estefanía Hernández, Secretary of Tourism of Solidaridad, explained that 7 million pesos will be allocated for the remodeling of the Fundadores park, 10 million for the bicycle path and 10 million more for the Mercado del Centro. Although the Secretariat of Public Works will oversee carrying out the works, various municipal departments will work together to guarantee the success of these projects.
These works are part of the tourist positioning strategy known as the city brand, whose official launch is scheduled for December 2. The local government aims to have the renovations ready for the high season at the end of the year, which will contribute to strengthening the city’s tourist offer.
“We want to offer new destination concepts that highlight the best of our city, combining modernity with the characteristic charm of Playa del Carmen,” said Hernández. With this transformation, it is hoped to revitalize emblematic points and consolidate Playa del Carmen as one of the main tourist destinations in the Riviera Maya.
Recently, the municipal president of Solidaridad, Estefanía Mercado, announced her intention to rename the municipality as “Playa del Carmen”, with the purpose of strengthening the identity of this widely recognized tourist destination at an international level.
