For years, the project of an urban forest in the east of the city of Durango has been sought, because it is the most polluted area, mainly due to the brick factories and companies that operate in the area.
In this sense, it is expected that this project can finally be consolidated next year, announced Governor Esteban Villegas Villarreal.
“We have 40 hectares on one side of the Mario Vázquez Raña sports complex, the idea is to make an urban forest, that is, another Guadiana park, but in the east, which is the most polluted area in the entire city,” he said.
And he said that there is already communication with the Federal Government to be able to advance in the project.
“We have already agreed, we are going to start to see with the teams, towards next year, how much Conafor can put in, what type of trees we have to put in, what the State Government puts in and hopefully we can achieve it,” he mentioned.
He said that this was one of the topics discussed during a meeting held in Durango with officials from the forestry branch of the Federal Government.
Additionally, there was also talk of new mines that have shown interest in being installed in Durango, in Rodeo and in Santiago Papasquiaro, which will be reviewed for the impact of land use and the permits required.
A tax charged by Semarnat for the use of land change was also discussed, in the case of the Tunal II dam, which would cost Durango 120 million pesos that go to a fund, so the possibility of paying it every year and the fund staying in Durango, to remediate the basins.
It was also stated that one of the main beneficiaries of the water produced in Durango is Sinaloa, as well as the Comarca Lagunera, Chihuahua and Nayarit, so they will try to analyze a scheme to jointly confront the fires since it requires a lot of personnel that Durango does not have.
He explained that it is an issue that the Federal Government is analyzing so that, if necessary, it is implemented in the best way.
