In a historic day, a total of 255 musicians from Mazatlán and other parts of the country managed to set a new Guinness Record as the largest Mexican folk music band.
The event was held in the Valentino area, where musicians, guest artists such as Carlos Sarabia and Germán Lizárraga and local authorities, including Mayor Estrella Palacios Domínguez, met.

The official adjudicator of Guinness World Records, Alfredo Arista, confirmed the mark and highlighted its international relevance.
“Today I want to welcome you to the Guinness World Record family. Congratulations.”
The challenge, which required the participation of at least 250 musicians playing simultaneously for a minimum of five minutes, was successfully overcome.
Arista explained that this record will position Mazatlán as a world reference.
“When we verify it, we put it in the eyes of the whole world. In China, Japan, Australia and everywhere, they will know that here in Mazatlán, here in Mexico, music is made and very beautiful.”
The validation process, which includes a thorough review of the event’s documentation, will be completed in the coming weeks. Once officially confirmed, the achievement will be disseminated globally.
In addition to highlighting the significance of the event, Arista mentioned similar precedents in other countries, such as Venezuela, which has a comparable record in local folk music.
However, this is the first record of its kind dedicated to traditional Mexican music.
In this way, in the midst of a climate of violence that plagues the port, the music of the band refreshed an identity that is beyond any fear.
The Sinaloa people are essentially their traditional music and they show it off all over the world.
Thus, the people of the port and tourists took the boardwalk by storm to enjoy, even for a few minutes, the contagion of Sinaloa music.
