The Oaxaca Tourism Secretariat (Sectur) held a working table with representatives of hotel and motel associations in the state to review the development plans in the sector and the actions that have been carried out during 2024.
The head of the agency, Saymi Pineda Velasco, led this meeting, as part of the agreements made at the Third Ordinary Session 2024 of the Oaxaca Tourism Advisory Council, in which the next promotion strategies were evaluated and training topics were raised for companies and service providers.
She highlighted that by promoting Oaxaca in key cities and attracting events, an upturn in the economic impact has been achieved, positioning the state as one of the main destinations for national and international visitors.
Among the topics discussed at the meeting, the Tourism Observatory stands out. It is currently in operation and aims to improve the management of statistical information through measurement instruments such as satisfaction surveys and profiles of visitors, which will allow a better study of the development of activities in this sector.
Likewise, the obligations, strategies and rights from the Reform of the Tourism Law and the lines of action of the 2025-2028 Tourism Plan focused on tourism development based on natural, cultural and historical wealth to preserve the heritage of the entity were reviewed.
Through this meeting, the State Government, through Sectur Oaxaca, works like never before to promote the development of this sector in a professional, sustainable way that guarantees the well-being of citizens.
Representatives of the hotel and motel associations of Oaxaca, Huatulco, Puerto Escondido and the Mixteca region attended; of the Mexico Meetings Tourism Association, Oaxaca chapter, the Women’s Association of Tourism Business Executives of Oaxaca and hotels of Santa María Colotepec.
