The budget planned for Public Security in Michoacán in 2025 is 6,004 million pesos, which represents an increase compared to the year that ends. According to the budget proposal submitted by the Secretary of Finance and Administration, Luis Navarro García, to the Congress of Michoacán, this represents an increase of 15.65 percent compared to 2024.
According to the numbers, this item will occupy 6 percent of the total budget of the state government, which in the document exposes public security as a priority to guarantee social well-being and economic development.
Among the resources allocated, an increase is contemplated in the Fund for the Strengthening of Peace (Fortapaz), which will have 1,023 million pesos, to support the municipalities in their operational capacity, in addition to the resources earmarked for multi-year works and other infrastructure initiatives. The initiative states that the growth in this area responds to the state policy of prioritizing investments that strengthen security strategies throughout the state. However, the Secretary of Finance himself has recognized that part of the spending in this sector is limited by previous commitments and budget adjustments destined for other priority areas.
Despite the increase in the budget, the document sent by Navarro emphasizes that efficiency and transparency in the use of these resources will be essential to meet public security objectives and achieve visible results in the reduction of crime rates.
