A wave of violence has hit the central and southern region of the state of Sinaloa in 2024. According to the State Council of Public Security in Sinaloa (CESP), in the month of November alone, 192 intentional homicides and 224 forced disappearances have been recorded.
These figures are alarming and reflect the seriousness of the situation in the region. It is important that state and federal authorities take effective measures to address this crisis and protect the safety and well-being of citizens.
Let us remember that the growing wave of violence in Sinaloa registered a notable increase since the arrest in the United States of drug trafficker Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada, who was captured in Texas along with Joaquín Guzmán López, son of the former head of the Sinaloa cartel Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, in a controversial incident that encouraged tensions between the Government of Mexico of then President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and his successor, Claudia Sheinbaum, and the Government of the United States.
