Classes suspended in Veracruz due to strong gusts of wind

The 212 municipalities of Veracruz will not have classes this Wednesday due to cold front number 14, the state government reported.

The cold front will leave strong gusts of wind that could reach up to 105 to 120 kilometers in the coastal area, so the state government asked the population to take extreme precautions and ordered the suspension of classes at all levels.

“Attention to the effects of the strong north event associated with cold front 14 in Veracruz, the suspension of classes has been determined on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at all educational levels in the 212 municipalities,” it said on its social networks.

Due to strong winds, problems such as falling structures, trees, unroofing of houses, among others, may arise. In addition, in high areas, a drop in temperature is expected.

In view of this, the Civil Protection alert system is already active for emergency situations.

“At the moment, the Veracruz Early Warning System is activated in its action phase, due to the probability of the following occurring: house roofs falling off, trees falling, advertisements, billboards, among others. Just as on the coasts there may be high waves, cold weather in high areas, rising rivers, streams, and flooding in plains, in addition to landslides, mudslides and landslides,” the Civil Protection Secretariat indicated in a bulletin.

Authorities asked the population to take extreme precautions and to heed all recommendations to safeguard and avoid risks.
