Crash on the Tehuacán-Orizaba highway leaves two dead and 10 injured

A serious car accident occurred on Saturday night on the Tehuacán-Orizaba federal highway, leaving more than 10 injured, who were taken to local hospitals for evaluation.

According to witnesses, the events occurred after a public transport unit covering the Tehuacán-Azumbilla route tried to overtake a cargo vehicle and, when it failed to do so, the public transport unit collided head-on with another van-type vehicle, leaving at least 10 people injured and two more dead.

Witnesses of the event tried to help the injured and get them out of the unit. Municipal public security elements arrived at the scene, as well as emergency units from the region on the Tehuacán – Orizaba federal highway, at kilometer 11+080, in front of a business called “Tubos Castañeda”, in the municipality of Chapulco.

The injured were treated by paramedics, who provided them with pre-hospital care and were subsequently transferred to the Tehuacán general hospital. The corresponding authorities will carry out the road investigation to determine the responsibility of the drivers involved.
