Legendary former Sonoran boxer Julio César Chávez has raised his voice against the violence currently taking place in his home state and sent a strong message to the criminal groups fighting over the region.
During a recent public appearance, Chávez expressed his concern about the clashes between the cartels. He called for unity and peace, highlighting the devastating impact that the violence has had on the population of Culiacán and its surrounding areas.
“I ask all of Culiacán, which is going through very difficult times, to stop, to stop these massacres. Culiacán is a very nice, very good, hard-working people,” said the historic boxer.
The former boxer also pointed out how the situation has facilitated the entry of people from other states who take advantage of the chaos to commit illegal acts. With a tone of urgency and respect, he asked the groups in conflict to cease their hostilities:
“I ask all the cartels with all due respect, the two cartels that are fighting, to please stop, please do it for Sinaloa. Please stop because many people from other states are coming to steal, to loot, to commit illegal acts and they are taking advantage of the situation,” he concluded.
