A priest went to the Mexico-Querétaro highway to bless it and thereby reduce accidents and assaults.
Father Miguel Ángel Carrillo Nieto sprinkled holy water and said a prayer from kilometer 145 to the Tepotzotlán toll booth.
As part of the blessing, the priest urged drivers to drive responsibly, respecting speed limits and obeying traffic signs.
Carrillo Nieto is originally from Soyaniquilpan de Juárez, a municipality in the State of Mexico an hour and a half from the capital of Querétaro.
Personnel from Caminos y Puentes Federales (Capufe) emphasized that the initiative seeks to invoke spiritual protection to reduce the number of accidents and guarantee safe travel on the Mexico-Querétaro highway.
