Those responsible for attack at car wash in Durango are arrested; they came from Nuevo León

This Monday, the arrest of the two subjects who appear to be responsible for the attack that occurred on November 30 against a car wash on San Ignacio Road, in the city of Durango, was announced.

State authorities stated that at 7:00 p.m. on the last day of November, William and Christofer Yair were traveling on board a white Hyundai Elantra vehicle, accompanied by two other males, on San Ignacio Avenue.

They then arrived at the business called Car Wash Asil Mariscos y Litros, parking meters ahead. Both got out wearing balaclavas and each holding an AK 47 type rifle, approached the aforementioned business and began shooting at the people who were inside said building.

In the attack, they injured two workers and a diner who was at the place, as well as causing damage to a closed white BMW van; a black Dodge pickup truck, RAM line type, and a closed GM pickup truck, black, 2022 model.

They then fled with the help of the two people who were aboard the white vehicle described above.

As a result of the investigations carried out by the State Attorney General’s Office, on December 5, a home was located in the Residencial del Valle subdivision where the vehicle was hidden, so the corresponding search warrant was requested before the Control Judge, seizing the white car, the clothing used by those responsible on the day of the events and the property itself; then data on their identities were obtained, so the arrest warrant was requested for their probable responsibility in the crime of attempted homicide.

With the intelligence work carried out by the investigative agents, another address was located in the Ampliación Luz del Carmen neighborhood, where the perpetrators remained hidden, requesting the corresponding search warrant and on December 15, in a joint operation of the staff of the State Attorney General’s Office, the Secretariat of National Defense and the National Guard, said investigation technique was executed achieving the apprehension of William and Christofer Yair, who were seized with two AK 47 type firearms, which they used on the day of the events. The rifles were also made available to the Control Judge for the formulation of charges.

It should be noted that the suspects are originally from Monterrey, Nuevo León, but arrived in the city of Durango on November 24 with the objective of planning and executing the attack on said business, since the owner of the same has a debt with whoever hired them for the amount of one million pesos, and refused to pay.

The State Government stressed that an arrest warrant was requested against the mastermind and the other two people who participated in the attack; no information is being provided at this time so as not to hinder their capture. However, the collaboration of the Prosecutors of the 31 states of the country for their search and arrest has already been requested, as well as the immigration alert and the procedures for the issuance of the Interpol “red notice” are being carried out.
