Coming from Mexico City, Mazatlan native Erika Judith Ontiveros became the one million 800 thousandth passenger to arrive at Mazatlan International Airport, aboard flight 1150 of the Viva Aerobus airline.
A big party was held on Wednesday morning at Mazatlan Airport when Erika Judith and her family were welcomed with a drum band and a “carnival” atmosphere, who were surprised by the situation.
The family of Erika Ontiveros experienced a moment of surprise, who stressed that they did not expect this reward, especially since it is another year in which she travels to the port to visit her relatives.
“We did not expect this, but we are very happy. Every year I come to see my family for the holidays and today with this surprise. We are sweating, the heat is good,” she said.
The Secretary of Tourism in Sinaloa, Mireya Sosa Osuna, along with the airport manager, Eduardo Galindo, were in charge of receiving the winning passenger, who arrived with her husband, daughter and nephew.
“We are very happy to receive today the 1 million 800 thousandth passenger, it is a historic fact for Mazatlán. We will be here and continue working to promote air connectivity to continue attracting new flights,” said Sosa Osuna.
“This flight has a 98 percent occupancy, practically full, that is how they inform me that all the flights are arriving, so we are very happy,” she added.
Since her arrival, Erika Judith commented that the way she was received when she got off the plane seemed suspicious to her, however, she was more worried about the fact that she came with her nephew and being a minor, it could cause some problem.
“When I left, I saw the gentlemen looking a bit strange and since I had my nephew with me, I thought it must be because I had my nephew with me and I was not his mother, he was a minor. I already saw them as a bit strange, but I said, well, let’s see what happens,” said Ontiveros.
When they crossed the arrivals gate at the airport, a shower of confetti and the rhythm of the batucada greeted the family, who were unsure whether the welcome was for them, until Sosa Osuna informed them that the party was for them.
Some tourist companies in Mazatlán joined in the party, giving gifts to the family, such as the use of rental cars free of charge for a few days, discounts in certain stores and two round trips on the Viva Aerobús airline.
Originally from Mazatlán, Erika Judith has been living in Mexico City with her family for 24 years, so year after year she visits the port during the Christmas holidays, where she spends quality time with her loved ones, in addition to enjoying the food that the destination offers.
The award-winning family is made up of Erika Judith Ontiveros, her husband César Vázquez, her daughter Tania Vázquez and her nephew Diego Galindo.
