The mayor of San Pedro Ixtlahuaca, Roberto Pérez Delgado, was caught on video while attacking an indigenous woman. For his actions, the governor of Oaxaca has already requested his immediate resignation.

In the images, a woman in a yellow skirt and orange blouse can be seen approaching the mayor shouting because a few meters away, part of the Morena mayor’s team was subjecting a person to violence.

When the woman passes by the mayor of San Pedro Ixtlahuaca, he pulls her by the hair and removes her from the place. The screams and the pulling continue until the mayor’s team and he himself hit the woman repeatedly to get her to leave the place.

In response to the events, the governor of Oaxaca, Salomón Jara, condemned the aggression against the indigenous woman and emphasized that: “The president must resign from office and assume responsibilities before the competent authorities.”

Mayor of San Pedro Ixtlahuaca defends himself

After the video of Roberto Pérez Delgado went viral on social media, the Municipal Government of San Pedro Ixtlahuaca issued a statement to spread “the version” of its representative, who, it should be noted, is also a substitute senator for the Green Ecologist Party of Mexico (PVEM).

“Regarding the video fragments that are circulating on social media and from which they intend to take political advantage by damaging my image, I must express that possibly my actions were incorrect, however, I did it in defense of my physical integrity and of the citizens who were being attacked.”

According to the version of the municipal president, a citizen asked him for “help” because she and her son had been hit by a motorcycle taxi driven by Victor “A”; he said that he requested the support of an ambulance and got out of his vehicle to “help the lady who was being attacked by the driver of the unit and other members” of the La Soledad site.

At the end of the document, it explains that the Attorney General’s Office (FGJ) of Oaxaca has already opened an investigation file on the matter, so it decided to temporarily resign from its position so as not to hinder the investigation.

From now on, it will be the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Attention to Crimes Against Women for Reasons of Gender, which has already contacted the victim and established the lines of investigation to determine the responsibility of the public official in the events.
