A bakery originally from Mexico City has opened its doors in Mérida, drawing large crowds and long lines of eager customers.
Dozens of people, many from Mexico City, have been lining up since 7:00 a.m. at the bakery located between Felipe Carrillo Puerto and Circuito Colonias avenues. “Hello, I am from Mexico City and I came for the bolillo,” declared one enthusiastic customer.

Conitos and teleras are among the most requested items this month. Mr. Francisco, a Mexico City native who visited with his wife, said the bakery offers Yucatecans an affordable option for buying bread.
Founded 49 years ago in the Iztapalapa district of Mexico City, the bakery offers a wide range of products, including cakes, ice cream, snacks, gelatin, drinks, and even roast chicken.
