Heavy flow of compatriots causes long lines of more than four hours on the international bridges from Eagle Pass to Piedras Negras

Long lines were reported again this Saturday to cross from Eagle Pass to Piedras Negras on both international bridges. Several countrymen reported having waited more than 4 hours to cross the border.

Drivers said that they began to form at 5 in the morning and, around 9, they were barely reaching the platform of International Bridge Two. This situation was repeated on Friday morning, reflecting the high vehicular traffic due to the massive arrival of travelers from different cities in Texas and the United States, who are looking to meet with their families in Mexico to celebrate the Christmas holidays.

In the case of Bridge Two, the lines on Loop 480 reached as far as Highway 277 South during Saturday morning. For its part, Bridge One had lines that extended to Veterans Boulevard at certain times of the day.

A family from California reported that their trip to Eagle Pass took 18 hours, to which they added almost 4 additional hours of waiting to cross the border. Their final destination was the state of Jalisco.

Countrymen continue to choose this border due to the security offered by the state of Coahuila, according to some travelers.

This year, the city of Eagle Pass implemented a special plan to keep the International Bridge One open 24 hours a day during this weekend before Christmas, which helped mitigate, to a certain extent, the magnitude of the problem.

The Eagle Pass Police Department maintains operations to control traffic, and the flow of travelers is expected to increase this Sunday with the arrival of more countrymen.
