Jaime Enrique Laredo Toscano, a young politician from the National Regeneration Movement, was murdered in the Afro-Mexican community of El Ciruelo, in the municipality of Santiago Pinotepa Nacional.

Public security reports indicate that the crime occurred around 3:30 p.m.

The official report indicates that armed men entered the hardware store, owned by the politician, and killed him after firing their firearms.

Jaime Laredo was a member of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) and was currently a member of the Morena party.

Local media reported that he had recently expressed his intention to seek the presidency of the municipal agency of El Ciruelo.

He was the author of the column “Without anesthesia” in which he addressed issues of politics and public security.

“We regret the irreparable loss of our friend and collaborator Lic. Jaime Enrique Laredo Toscano QEPD. From the Pinotepa Nacional Oaxaca plum tree, to his family, prompt resignation… goodbye friend… one of the first support programs for the most vulnerable population,” wrote the media outlet Noti Costa.

“In these moments of pain, I want to express my solidarity to the family and friends of the young Jaime Enrique Laredo Toscano. I send my deepest condolences for this irreparable loss,” Tomás Basaldú Gutiérrez, state president of the PRD, shared on social media.
