For the third consecutive day, due to high waves and rip currents, red flags are flying on the beaches of Puerto Vallarta, so access to the sea is restricted. “At the moment, the beaches of Puerto Vallarta continue to have rip currents and high waves, therefore it is determined that the red flag remains in effect on all the beaches of Puerto Vallarta,” explained César Zamora, deputy director of risk prevention of the Municipal Directorate of Civil Protection and Firefighters of Puerto Vallarta.
However, recommendations are offered to bathers so that they can enjoy this tourist destination with peace of mind. “Despite the fact that all recreational and leisure activities on the beaches are limited, bathers are being advised to respect the signs and instructions of the lifeguards and to avoid entering the sea,” he added.
Therefore, special attention is requested to be paid to the elderly and minors in order to avoid any type of incident, adds the director of Risk Prevention of the municipal department. According to data from the tourism authorities, the city has registered an occupancy rate of over 85 percent and is expected to reach full capacity by the weekend and New Year’s Eve.
