According to the National Banking and Securities Commission (CNBV), banking institutions in Mexico will not open their doors during the non-working days established in the official calendar of 2024.

This measure, which coincides with the holidays marked by the Federal Labor Law, will affect face-to-face operations in branches, so the population is recommended to plan their financial transactions in advance to avoid setbacks.

The official CNBV calendar establishes that Wednesday, January 1, corresponding to the New Year holiday, will be one of the days in which bank branches will remain closed. This day is considered mandatory rest as stipulated in Mexican labor legislation.

The only bank that will open on January 1, 2025 is Banco Azteca

In contrast, on Tuesday, December 31, banking institutions will operate during their usual hours, which generally offer services between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. It should be noted that some may vary depending on the location and the institution.

Tuesday, December 31: banks operate normally
Wednesday, January 1: for New Year’s Eve, banks will not open their doors.
It should be noted that the only bank that will open on January 1, 2025 is Banco Azteca, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

For its part, the CNBV recalled the importance of users of banking services taking these dates into account when organizing their financial activities. The suspension of operations on non-business days implies that face-to-face procedures cannot be carried out at branches. However, it is important to note that digital services and ATMs will continue to operate normally.

Alternatives in case a bank is closed
If you need to carry out banking operations precisely during the holidays, it is important to have an alternative plan. A viable option is to use ATMs, which are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Since these devices allow transactions such as cash withdrawals, deposits, transfers and balance inquiries, they offer an accessible solution for those who need to manage their finances during these periods.

A second option is to use online banking, which has become an indispensable ally for many users. Financial institutions offer a variety of digital services that allow transactions to be made from the comfort of home. Available transactions include money transfers, bill payments and balance inquiries.

However, it is important to note that some services may experience longer processing times during holidays, which could affect the speed with which certain transactions are completed.
