The Finance Secretariat of the state government of Querétaro launched the program “Vehicle Insurance 2025.” This program will grant one year of free vehicle insurance to owners who pay the vehicle renewal fee by March 31 of next year.
The agency noted that there are nearly 58 million motor vehicles registered in Mexico and according to the Mexican Association of Insurance Institutions (AMIS), at least 68% circulate without insurance. In addition, more than one million crashes occur in the country, which is why the well-being and assets of citizens are guaranteed.
It contemplates the repair of damages caused by vehicle accidents, the certainty of assuming only part of the costs for damages caused and medical assistance in case third parties were involved in the accident.
The program will come into effect from January 1, 2025, until March 31, 2025. During that period, car or motorcycle owners must comply with the 2025 renewal payment, in addition, they must be up to date with State tax payments, this includes the tax on the ownership or use of vehicles.
It should be noted that the value of the vehicles is taken as the manufacturer’s alienation value, not greater than 150 thousand pesos; and it is only intended for individuals, so cars that operate for public services (taxi or Uber) are excluded.
What does the insurance cover?
The insurance will be for civil liability, a policy that protects the owner from claims for damage to third party property; or causes bodily injury or death of third parties, including compensation for moral damage. It can be used in a maximum of 2 claims until December 31. In the first case, it applies with a deductible of 25 UMA in force, currently it would be 2 thousand 715 pesos and an insured sum of up to 35 thousand pesos. In the second incident, the insured sum will consist of the pending resource once the expense of the first has been reduced and a deductible of 50 UMA will apply, that is, double.
However, it includes coverage for an incident in the federal section for the amount of 100 thousand pesos, with a deductible currently saying 10 thousand 800 pesos.
«Motorcycle Coverage. It only includes Civil Liability coverage, federal sections and second event. Motorcycles do not have coverage for medical expenses for occupants» they point out.
The procedure can be carried out on the Recudanet page https://tenencia.queretaro.gob.mx/ and when registered in the Vehicle Registry the policy will be generated automatically, the beneficiaries will be able to download it within 15 business days.
