In January, a group of hotel and restaurant businessmen will go out to promote Mazatlán to Mexico City with different conferences and demonstrations of traditional dishes from the port.

The vice president of tourism of the National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism in Mazatlán, Guillermo Romero Rodríguez, explained that this promotion will not be financed with government resources, but will be a contribution from the Mazatlan businessmen themselves, who seek to increase the arrival of tourists to the port, because it has been affected by violence in Sinaloa.

Romero Rodríguez added that these actions will be carried out through conferences and gastronomic demonstrations in various states of the country.

“At this time, what is most needed is to promote the destination and so far there is no known plan for promoting tourism from the Sectur,” he said.

The vice president of tourism for Canaco insisted that it is necessary to reinforce the promotion, since 95 percent of the tourists who come to Mazatlán are national and 5 percent are foreign.

“While it is true that 95 percent of the tourists visiting Mazatlán are by road, by car, by bus, that is where we have to adjust, and it is good that the authorities are already doing so, because as there is surveillance on the road, we can now say that we can rest easy and enjoy what the beautiful port is, and all the beauties it offers,” he said.
