Passenger bus runs out of brakes on Durango-Mazatlán highway; 43 injured

A passenger bus had no brakes on the Durango-Mazatlán highway, so the driver used a braking ramp, which caused the destruction of the front of the transport. A total of 43 people were injured and taken to hospitals in Durango.

According to the Durango Prosecutor’s Office, the events occurred on Thursday night when Pedro Alberto “N”, driver of the Dina passenger bus, model 1992, noticed the lack of brakes and entered the braking ramp near the Garabitos toll booth.

The bus was heading from Mazatlán to Monterrey. Civil Protection and Mexican Red Cross elements went to the scene, who carried out the transfer of the injured to the different hospitals in the capital of Durango.

The state prosecutor’s office identified the injured, among whom are seven minors who have already been discharged.

The injured were admitted to General Hospital 450, to the Social Security clinic 1 and to the ISSSTE clinic, most of them suffered multiple injuries.

Of the 43 initially injured, 15 people have already been discharged, including the seven minors.
