In 2024, the State Guard carried out more than four thousand support and surveillance actions on the state’s highways and the support remains active seeking to guarantee the safety and well-being of travelers and citizens.
Under the coordination of the Tamaulipas Public Security Secretariat (SSPT), strategic operations were deployed at key points, highlighting the work of the 25 Safe Stations, installed every 50 kilometers along the highway network.
The most relevant activity was that of the surveillance tours, which totaled 3,855 interventions, ensuring constant monitoring of the highway sections.
Among the most visible actions, is the support provided to compatriots returning to Mexico from the United States and Canada, as part of the Operation Héroes Paisanos.
Since December 1, a total of 769 interventions were carried out to offer support in their transit, contributing to making this massive crossing safe and organized.
However, the State Guard did not only focus on preventing incidents. During the increase in vehicle flow typical of the holiday period, more than 467 assistance services were provided to travelers, solving mechanical problems, changing tires and other eventualities that could have affected the drivers’ journey.
In addition, the State Guard staff was in charge of flagging and regulating traffic in 93 accidents, of which 25 involved injured people and 8 resulted in deaths. However, in 60 cases fortunately no fatalities were recorded. 26 rollovers were also attended to, of which 9 left people injured.
State Guard personnel added that the work does not stop during the holiday months; surveillance and assistance actions will continue to be a constant, ensuring that the state’s roads remain safe during the rest of the holidays and throughout the year.
