During 2024, the representation of the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) in Chihuahua celebrated 40 years of preserving, protecting and disseminating the cultural heritage of the state.
A fruitful year in which it investigated and deepened knowledge in the fields of archaeology, history and anthropology.
Throughout the year, the INAH Chihuahua Center contributed significantly to the registration and knowledge of movable historical assets (paintings, objects, images, altarpieces) of the entity; the study of the cultural components and legal systems of indigenous peoples; the conservation of municipal archives and the safekeeping of old photography.
Likewise, through the One-Stop Shop, in 2024 it attended to 373 procedures, including complaints and advice; in addition to 418 resolutions in the legal area.
Meanwhile, the Museum of Northern Cultures and the Paquimé Archaeological Zone registered 35,582 national and foreign visitors, while Cueva de la Olla, 24,422. In the municipality of Madera, the archaeological zones Las 40 Casas, Huápoca and Cueva de las Ventanas received, until November, a total of 4,786 people.
At the beginning of the year, the 40th anniversary of the INAH Chihuahua Center was celebrated, through conferences and a colloquium, where specialists shared their research and institutional work.
On the other hand, the X Jornadas de la Revolución en la Frontera celebrated 10 years of being held in Ciudad Juárez, with a valuable experience of in-person and digital dissemination of its events.
A special activity stands out, the International Colloquium of the Camino Real de Tierra Adentro, held in August between institutions from Mexico and the United States, which, for the first time, had a binational character in our country.
Also, the tenth edition of the Chihuahua Journalism and Cultural Heritage Workshop stands out, in which 77 journalists, communicators and people close to this work participated in the cities of Ciudad Juárez, Parral, Chihuahua and Casas Grandes.
The weekly program “Diáspora de la memoria” continued as a valuable space for the dissemination of cultural heritage. 44 live broadcasts were made, which can be heard on the Spotify platform.
The Sol de Acantilados and En las Casas Grandes festivals reached their seventh and tenth edition, respectively, with the attendance of 2,200 and 2,250 people.
Another permanent task was the GacetINAH, a digital magazine that, with the delivery of January 2025, will reach its 55th issue.
The dissemination of heritage is a central axis of the INAH Chihuahua Center, and through various digital platforms it reports on its exhibitions, book publications, research advances and cultural activities of its museums. In doing so, the Institute brings the richness of our history and culture to different audiences.
