Guerrero closes 2024 with almost seven thousand cases of dengue and 61 deaths

This year 2024 Mexico closed the year with 125 thousand 160 confirmed cases of dengue spread throughout the national territory and 478 deaths, as well as 558 thousand 846 probable cases reported. While in 2023, 54 thousand 406 confirmed cases, 277 thousand 963 probable cases and 203 deaths were reported.

In the case of Guerrero, the Federal Ministry of Health reports a total of 6 thousand 968 confirmed cases of Dengue in 2024. But Guerrero reported in 2024 a total of 46,882 probable cases and only 6,968 confirmed cases with 61 deaths, while in 2023 there were only 14 deaths.

Probable cases of dengue are those where the patient has all the symptoms of the infection, but because the test has not been done, the infection cannot be confirmed and this is recorded in the statistics. The most affected population is the age range between 10 and 15 years old. And 56% of the infections were women and 44% men.

The municipalities that reported the highest number of infections in recent weeks in Guerrero are: Tlapa, with 436 infections; Huamuxtitlan, with 181 infections; Tlalixtlaquilla, with 69 cases and the rest of the other municipalities with 6,246 cases. Which gives a total of 6,968 infections; that is, 19 daily dengue infections in Guerrero during 2024.
