In a joint operation, agents of the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) of Puebla, in coordination with the State Police, National Guard and military elements, managed to rescue a 19-year-old girl who was a victim of human trafficking. The young woman was being held in the Barra Beer bar, located in the Historic Center of Puebla, on the corner of 5 Poniente and 7 Sur.
Rescue details
According to sources from MTP Noticias, the Attorney General’s Office, under the direction of Idamis Pastor, acted quickly after the complaint filed by the victim’s relatives, who lost contact with her after being hooked with a false job offer.
- Investigation and complaint:
The victim was recruited through a supposed job offer as a waitress with a salary of 2,800 pesos per week. However, when she went to the place, she was held against her will from the first day and was left without communication with her family.
- Search warrant:
The Prosecutor’s Office obtained a search warrant to enter Barra Beer, where the young woman was. During the operation, a person in charge of the establishment was arrested.
- Coordination of forces:
The operation included collaboration between agents of the FGE, State Police, National Guard and military. 5 Poniente Street was cordoned off for several hours while the rescue was carried out.
The property and the establishments seized
The rescue took place in a building located at the intersection of 5 Poniente and 7 Sur, where at least four establishments dedicated to the sale of food and alcoholic beverages operated. All of them have been closed and seized by the Prosecutor’s Office.
Deceptive job offers: The luring method
Preliminary investigations indicate that the young woman was recruited through a job offer posted on the windows of the Barra Beer establishment. The advertisements offered jobs such as:
Both vacancies emphasized that the job was exclusively for female personnel with good presentation, a detail that raises suspicions about possible trafficking patterns in this and other similar places.
Citizen complaint and recommendations
The prompt complaint by the victim’s family was key to her rescue. The Prosecutor’s Office urges the population to remain alert to suspicious job offers and to report any irregularities.
Drug dealing, trafficking and femicides
Recommendations to identify false job offers:
Be wary of vacancies that require only specific physical characteristics.
Check the reputation of the establishment before going to interviews.
Avoid going alone to unknown or uncrowded places.
Inform family members about the place and time of your interview.
Human trafficking: A latent problem
This case highlights the problem of human trafficking, a crime that affects hundreds of people in Mexico every year. Authorities are calling on the public to report suspicious cases and collaborate in the fight against this crime.
Effective coordination between the FGE, security forces and citizen reporting allowed for a positive outcome in this case, preventing the young woman from continuing to be a victim of exploitation. However, the closure of these establishments raises new questions about possible criminal networks in the area.
