Second winter storm causes freezing weatherThis Wednesday, the second winter storm of the season will cause freezing weather, strong gusts of wind as well as falling snow or sleet and freezing rain, reported the National Meteorological Service (SMN).
The agency explained that these conditions are caused by the interaction of the winter storm with the contribution of humidity generated by the polar jet stream over the northwest and north of the Mexican Republic.
Cold front 21 maintains low temperatures
It detailed that conditions are expected for the fall of snow or sleet in the mountains of Baja California, Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, in the northeast of Sinaloa and Durango; and freezing rain in Nuevo León and Zacatecas.
In turn, cold front 21 is located east of the Yucatan Peninsula and will interact with a low pressure channel extended over the western Gulf of Mexico and the southeast of the national territory, causing showers and heavy rains to very heavy rains in the northeast, east and southeast of Mexico.

On the other hand, the Arctic air mass associated with the front will keep the environment cold to very cold with frost and fog banks during this morning and night in entities of the northeast, center, east and southeast of Mexico.
At the same time, an atmospheric river will cause rains of varying intensities with possible electrical discharges in areas of the west, center and south of the country.
In addition to conditions for the fall of snow, sleet or freezing rain during the night on mountain peaks with altitudes above 4,300 meters above sea level in the west, center and east of the country (Nevado de Colima, Nevado de Toluca, Popocatépetl, Iztaccíhuatl, Sierra Negra, La Malinche and Pico de Orizaba).
