Tlaxcala closed the year 2024 among the seven states with the lowest number of intentional homicides in Mexico, according to data from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (SESNSP).

During the morning conference on January 9, in which the report on security results during the first 100 days of President Claudia Sheinbaum’s government was presented, the record of intentional homicide in each of the 32 federal entities during the past year was announced.
The data presented showed that seven states had the lowest figures nationwide regarding this crime: Yucatán (44), Durango (69), Baja California Sur (69), Campeche (98), Coahuila (111), Aguascalientes (118) and Tlaxcala (141). The reports from all these entities were well below the national average (939.3).

In contrast, seven states concentrated 49.4% of the total cases: Guanajuato (3,151), Baja California (2,368), State of Mexico (2,258), Chihuahua (2,004), Jalisco (1,804), Guerrero (1,738) and Nuevo León (1,539).

At the conference, it was highlighted that, from September to December 2024, there was a decrease in intentional homicides in the country of 16.3%.

Among them, the Peace Tables, to establish coordinated work aimed at the design and implementation of strategies to guarantee security in the federal entities, and the “Days for Peace”, to prevent violence and reduce crime rates.
In this regard, it was highlighted that 32 state and 221 regional peace tables operate, and the activities that were carried out from December 13 to 23, 2024 within the framework of the “Days for Peace”, among which those carried out in the municipalities of Tlaxcala stood out, as part of the institutional commitment to work in a coordinated manner for the well-being of the population.
