A series of shootings and blockades were reported this Tuesday, January 7, in various sectors of the city of Matamoros, Tamaulipas, due to clashes between organized crime groups and security forces, including the State Guard and the Mexican Army. During the chase, a van driven by criminals collided with a car, resulting in the death of an elderly woman and leaving her daughter injured.
The events occurred shortly after 3:00 p.m., when clashes were reported between criminal groups and security forces. In one of the chases, an 89-year-old woman, identified as Emilia López Alva, lost her life when the van that was being pursued by security forces hit the vehicle in which she was traveling with her daughter. The occupants of the van involved fled the scene.
