People often have doubts about the best place to live in Mexico, especially when they think about the future, trying to provide their family with the optimal conditions to have a full life. However, there are various places whose characteristics do not meet what is expected of a place to build a home.
When answering this question, different circumstances must be taken into account, including security in the area, services, employment opportunities, transportation, among others, having options that meet what is requested, although there are also cities that could be the opposite.
The least attractive city to live in Mexico
According to Artificial Intelligence (AI), determining the least attractive city to live in Mexico depends on various factors, such as quality of life, security, economic development, access to services and pollution levels. According to surveys and perception studies carried out by institutions such as the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) and specialized organizations, one of the cities that is usually shown as unfavorable in different indicators is Ecatepec de Morelos, in the State of Mexico.
According to the National Survey of Urban Public Security (ENSU), Ecatepec consistently registers high levels of perceived insecurity, which significantly impacts the quality of life of its inhabitants. More than 90% of its adult population reports feeling unsafe in the city, especially in public spaces such as ATMs, transportation, and markets. This high level of insecurity is accompanied by a high incidence of crimes such as robbery, extortion, and violence.
In addition, problems such as disorderly urbanization, deficiencies in infrastructure, lack of access to quality basic services, and traffic congestion worsen their living conditions. Public transportation, which is the main means of mobility for its inhabitants, faces recurring criticism for its precarious state and lack of safe routes.
On the other hand, environmental and visual pollution have also been pointed out as problems in this city. Emissions from factories, vehicles, and clandestine burning of waste contribute to unhealthy air, while the accumulation of garbage in public spaces adds another daily difficulty.
Despite these challenges, Ecatepec is not the only city in this category, as areas such as Chilpancingo (Guerrero) and some areas of Reynosa (Tamaulipas) share similar dynamics. These localities tend to register unfavorable indices in areas such as security, employment, access to services and environmental quality, which places them among the least attractive to live in according to various studies.
