Russia-US diplomatic war, with Mexico as the stage

43

The embassies of the United States and Russia in Mexico had a fight on social media. It all started when the Americans launched an alert to ask those who apply for study or work programs in Russia to make sure “that the program is legitimate,” since some media have reported that “citizens from third countries have arrived in Russia with false promises and have been forced to work in the Russian defense industry.” In response, the embassy of the Putin government responded: “We thank the US embassy in Mexico for its interest in our scholarship program,” and invited American citizens to join. So much so that Mexico tries to be neutral and they bring the problems to its doorstep.

Governor of Sinaloa now attacks the MX League

Another one from Rubén Rocha Moya. Now the governor of Sinaloa ‘disapproved’ of the “unsupportive attitude” of the Liga MX – “that league that squeezes the people of Mexico and Sinaloa, selling them tickets” – which did not allow Dorados to play in Culiacán due to the insecurity of the drug war that is taking place in that city. The Morena member began to compare: “I do not know if the leagues that play there in Arabia and those that are there near Israel and all those parts, in Ukraine and Europe (…), it is more dangerous there because they throw bombs from top to bottom.” Of course, now the guilty ones are the soccer directors, as no one had noticed.

Love and peace between coordinators?

Deputy Ricardo Monreal started activities this week with a message of ‘love and peace’ with Senator Adán Augusto López. After the public clash between the two parliamentary leaders of Morena over the management of resources in the Senate in the last legislature, yesterday the Zacatecan commented that “love and peace with the great Adam, he is a good friend and a good politician, and for me there is only respect for him.” And the proof of this –he said– is that “we have already talked about the legislative agenda, of reaching an agreement and of there being harmony and unity so that the transformation process continues.” Will it be?

Taddei, against the ‘perversities’ of judges
The president of the INE, Guadalupe Taddei, described as “the height of perversity” the threat of the National Association of Circuit Magistrates and District Judges of the Judicial Branch of the Federation –the famous Jufed, chaired by Juana Fuentes– to sanction citizens who participate as polling station officials in the judicial election. The Sonoran asked not to continue with that narrative, which would be as absurd as if they sanctioned people who go to vote.

Opposition, ‘a zero on the left’

The PRI and the PAN complained that for the Morena government the opposition is only “a zero on the left.” And it is that in their only representation they have, in the Legislative Power, “Morena does not listen to us or take us into account,” “we are a zero on the left in the definition of the legislative agenda,” complained the PRI leader, Rubén Moreira, in the lonely corridors of the Legislative Palace of San Lázaro. And the head of the PAN bench, Noemí Luna, criticized the “arrogance of the president and of Morena,” which “does not listen to anyone.” And what about Jorge Romero and Alito Moreno?

Communication, among Bertha Alcalde’s pending tasks
Bertha Alcalde’s administration at the head of the CDMX Prosecutor’s Office has already begun and among the many pending tasks she must attend to is Social Communication, an area that has been abandoned since December 2018, when Ernestina Godoy took over as prosecutor and then as attorney general. Godoy went so far as to close the press room, and it remained closed like that during the year that the department was headless. The justification for having said space closed was a false remodeling, although it seemed more like the intention was to keep the press away. Now we have to see if there will be continuity or a change of direction.
