From passenger trains to drinking water in Tamaulipas, Sheinbaum’s announcements in her 100-day government message

President Claudia Sheinbaum presented the progress and actions of her government during the first 100 days of her administration, in which she recalled the projects for Tamaulipas such as the passenger train, the expansion of roads and works for drinking water.

From the Zócalo in Mexico City, the president presented a list of achievements in terms of security, health, economy, housing, mobility, among other areas. In addition, she took the opportunity to propose strategies to improve them.

Mexico-Nuevo Laredo Train

In terms of mobility and infrastructure, she detailed that passenger trains will continue to be rescued, which is why the complete circuit of the Mayan Train was launched, a unique work in the world whose operation is a success, since only from October to December 2024 it was used by nearly 400 thousand passengers and in 2026 it will also be a freight rail transport.

While the Ixtepec to Ciudad Hidalgo section of the Interoceanic Train is 60 percent complete and will enter into operation up to Tonalá in July of this year. In addition, in April the construction of the new passenger train routes will begin: Mexico-Pachuca; Mexico-Nuevo Laredo; and Mexico-Nogales.

“In April of this year, we began with the construction of the new passenger train routes: from Mexico City to Pachuca, from Mexico City to Nuevo Laredo and from Mexico City to Nogales. We have already made progress in demand studies, environmental impact statements and basic engineering.”

He added that “The “Felipe Ángeles” Military Engineers Group will build the Mexico-Pachuca Train and the Mexico-Querétaro Train; and in mid-2025, we will tender the routes from Querétaro to Irapuato and from Saltillo to Nuevo Laredo, passing through Monterrey.”

Highway expansion

Claudia Sheinbaum will also inaugurate the expansion of the San Cristóbal-Tuxtla Gutiérrez highway; Bucerías-Puerto Vallarta and Mitla-Tehuantepec; in addition to the start of expansion works on 11 highways, including Ciudad Valles-Tampico.

She added that this year the Issste hospital being built in Tamaulipas will begin operations.

Drinking water

In addition, she said that 17 strategic projects will begin in terms of drinking water and flood prevention, in Baja California, Baja California Sur, Campeche, Coahuila, Colima, Durango, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Oaxaca, San Luis Potosí, Sonora, Tabasco, Tamaulipas, Veracruz, Zacatecas and the Metropolitan Zone of the Valley of Mexico.

The head of the Federal Executive explained that, during the 100 days of the Second Floor of the Fourth Transformation, she visited the 32 entities of the Republic, traveling by land and air 32,449 kilometers, meeting with the 31 state governments and the Head of Government, to define together the next strategic projects.

President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo was accompanied by the people of Mexico, by all members of her legal and extended cabinet, as well as by the governors of different states of the country; members of the Chamber of Deputies and Senators; representatives of indigenous peoples and the business sector.
