The governors of Coahuila and Durango, Manolo Jiménez and Esteban Villegas, together with mayors from both states, attended the National Municipal Meeting convened by President Claudia Sheinbaum, with the aim of strengthening coordination between the three levels of government for the development of water projects, the fight against poverty, security and health, among others.
At the event, the President of Mexico announced the new way in which the Fund for Social Infrastructure was distributed; and asked to pool federal, state and municipal resources through a Master Plan.
Regarding Coahuila, it was highlighted that in the area of security, it is a national example by being one of the safest entities in the country and its municipalities, since it is located within the first 15 places.
It was also highlighted that it is one of the states with the highest job creation and national leader in automobile and auto parts production, since it is located in the first places in exports.
During the meeting, Governor Manolo Jiménez reiterated his support and backing of the President of the Republic in all those projects, works and programs of the federal government that contribute to improving the quality of life of the people of Coahuila.
He stressed that his administration has an excellent working relationship with the 38 mayors of the state. Another fundamental issue that was given special emphasis is the coordination that exists between the 38 municipalities, the State, the Federation, the Mexican Army, the National Guard, the Navy, prosecutors, civil society and the private sector, “to keep Coahuila protected and ensure that its inhabitants have peace and tranquility.”
Historic meeting
For his part, Governor Esteban Villegas stressed that this meeting is historic, since it is the first time that the National Executive unites mayors and governors for a single purpose; “Thank you, President, for looking at the mayors of our country.”
He said that in this unique meeting of this nature in the country, due to the plurality gathered to work in favor of Mexico, he is sure that with the leadership of Claudia Sheinbaum and with the help of all the governors, mayors, and mayors, in 2025, the greatness of the country will be reborn.
He added that with this meeting, the bases were laid for the promotion of more actions in favor of all and work in unity, especially in incentives for key water, security, and health projects.
