The Secretariat of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (SECTEI) of Mexico City has announced the operating rules for the “Scholarship for University Students for Transportation and More” for the year 2025. The main objective of this program is to financially support undergraduate students residing in Mexico City, granting them a bi-monthly subsidy of 1,500 pesos to cover transportation-related expenses.
The scholarship is designed for students enrolled in undergraduate programs in a school or mixed modality, in public higher education institutions located in Mexico City or in the Metropolitan Zone of the Valley of Mexico (ZMVM). Priority is given to those who live in colonies, neighborhoods or towns classified with a medium, low or very low social development index (IDS).
The program seeks to guarantee an equitable distribution of support, establishing a goal of granting at least 50% of the scholarships to women and 50% to men. For Fiscal Year 2025, the delivery of up to 100,000 financial supports is expected.

When does registration begin?
According to official information from the Government of Mexico City, the registration process for young students will begin this Monday, January 20; However, when you enter the becaparatransporte.cdmx.gob.mx website to enter your data, the program is not yet enabled, so it is important that you stay tuned for the moment when it is possible to register.
Meanwhile, it is hoped that this support can encourage young university students to continue with the goal of finishing a degree without transportation costs being an impediment for them to get to class every day. With this, the Head of Government, Clara Brugada, seeks to reduce school dropouts due to the lack of financial resources that some families in the capital have, mainly among higher education students.
