A group of nine Cubans who were being demanded by traffickers to pay 2,500 dollars to be taken to the border with the United States, were rescued during a search in this city, authorities reported.
The foreigners were in a building in the Framboyanes neighborhood, west of the city, where agents from the Attorney General’s Office went with the support of the Secretariat of National Defense and the National Institute of Migration.
“Upon arriving at said building, they rescued nine undocumented people of Cuban nationality, five men and four women, who were sheltered in the aforementioned place,” detailed the representation of the FGR in Chiapas.
It added that during the rescue operation nine cell phones were seized, and there were no arrests.
Meanwhile, the foreigners were handed over to the INM, which transferred them to the Siglo 21 immigration station for not proving their legal stay in Mexico.
The FGR added that the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office will continue with the investigations against whoever is found responsible for the alleged violation of the Immigration Law.
