The former mayor of Los Cabos, Oscar Leggs Castro, is being prosecuted. This Saturday, January 18 in San José del Cabo, he must appear to sign every 15 days and has a period of 6 months to present the evidence; he is accused of the crime of abuse of authority by simulation.

The declaration of being prosecuted was determined by the judge after the parties and arguments were presented by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Corruption in Baja California Sur, so within a period of 6 months he must provide the necessary evidence to free him from the accusations that may constitute a crime, without meaning that he has committed it.

Oscar Leggs must comply with 14 precautionary measures, among which are to appear to sign every 15 days, he must not leave the country, but he can travel to any part of the Mexican Republic, while the judicial process is being carried out, that is, to avoid evading justice.

Using technology as the former mayor is accustomed to, he explained through his Facebook page that apart from the precautionary measures requested, he also gave up his passport of his own free will, as a sign that he has nothing to hide or fear.

We have always said this and we are going to stay ahead and answer everything that needs to be answered and whoever needs to be called, we will remain up front in the year, proof of this is that we are here facing everyone.

He explained that he does not plan to travel at this time, but to the interior of the country, yes, because he has some pending matters to attend to in Mexico City and in other states of the country, because he has no restrictions in that regard.

I can calmly say with my head held high, to all the people of Cabo and the South Californians that I will continue to make known all the progress of this judicial process.

Leggs Castro’s private attorney, Francisco Javier Cisa Cota, clarified some points so that the public is aware of the fact that the order of linking to the process does not mean that there is an approved responsibility against the accused person, it is because there are data that make it probable, the commission of law that the person could have committed that criminal act, it is saying that he could and not that he committed it.

He said that there is a probability, where the approval model is minimal, since, relatively, there would be very little data that the prosecution and the judge need to be able to link an act of linking to the process.

Regarding the precautionary measure, he details that it is issued only to guarantee the presence of the accused person in the process, but that does not mean that he is being prejudged or that a conviction is being anticipated.

He will have a period of six months to prove his innocence in the process and show that he had nothing to do with the criminal acts under investigation, so, between now and July 2025, all the evidence in Oscar Leggs Castro’s favor will be available to provide.
