A strong winter storm hitting the southern United States has caused the cancellation of flights originating in the airports of Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta. The adverse weather conditions, mainly in Texas, have forced airlines to suspend their operations to destinations such as Houston, San Antonio, Reynosa and Monterrey.
Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP), the company that manages both airports, has confirmed the cancellation of several flights due to the inclement weather in the United States.
In Guadalajara, a total of 7 flights to different cities in Texas and northern Mexico had been cancelled as of midday on Tuesday, while in Puerto Vallarta, 2 flights to Houston have been cancelled.
At the Guadalajara International Airport, four cancellations were reported to the George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, one to San Antonio, one to Reynosa and one to Monterrey. In addition, a flight to Monterrey was rescheduled.
Two flights were cancelled from Puerto Vallarta International Airport: one to George Bush Intercontinental Airport and another to William P. Hobby Airport, also in Houston.
The decision to cancel flights is due to the heavy snowfall and low temperatures that are affecting much of the southern United States. Houston airports, one of the main airports affected by the winter storm, have suspended operations to ensure the safety of passengers and crews.
Thousands of flights have been cancelled across the country due to this winter storm, causing major disruption to air travel. Passengers with scheduled flights to or from the United States are advised to contact their airlines for updated information on the status of their flights.
