Two sisters were murdered this morning in the municipality of Santa Lucía del Camino, located in the Central Valleys of Oaxaca.
According to the justice authorities, the double femicide occurred inside their home on San José Street, in the Aquiles Serdán Colony of this Oaxacan municipality.
The victims were identified as Irene, 22 years old, and CPGH, 14 years old.
After the prosecutor’s office received the report, they began the corresponding work coordinated through the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Attention to Crimes Against Women for Reasons of Gender, which conducted the interviews and initial work, from which specific lines of investigation were defined to find the whereabouts of whoever is responsible.
According to neighbors, the mother and her partner were under the influence of alcohol when the events occurred.
One version indicates that the women would have been deprived of their lives by their stepfather, although it will be the investigations that determine responsibilities.
According to the newspaper monitoring of the Documentation Center of the Rosario Castellanos Women’s Studies Group (GESMujer), so far in 2025 six Oaxacan women have been murdered, including today’s two sisters.
This study reports that during the administration of Salomón Jara, from December 1, 2022 to date, 210 women have been murdered in Oaxaca.
